rank & Test guidelines
The following guidelines represent a general outline of the expected technical knowledge required to attain each rank. This, of course, is not an exhaustive nor permanently fixed list; every student is unique and may be asked to demonstrate some things not found on the guidelines.
Important: The video content is for reference only. It comes from a series of videos made by T. K Chiba Shihan (the founder of Birankai) in the mid-90s. As such, some of what you see may have since been modified or is practiced differently in our dojo. Use these videos to help orient yourself rather than to study/learn technical detail.
5th kyu
Hour Requirement: 40-50 hours with 25 hours being achieved through minimum 2x/week in consecutive weeks

Hour Requirement: 60-80 hours since 5th kyu with 30 hours being minimum 2x/week in consecutive weeks
